In primary care settings, this could mean asking patients about their mobility issues and ensuring that these issues are addressed, as they could affect the risk of complications. The study also underscores the need for a proactive approach to identifying and treating osteoarthritis. It's not just about physical function; it's about overall well-being. By recognizing the impact of pain on glycemic control, we can take steps to improve the lives of patients with diabetes and osteoarthritis, ultimately leading to better health outcomes. This study is a reminder that sometimes the most significant improvements in healthcare come from looking beyond the obvious and addressing the hidden barriers to health.
